Welcome to the Big Blether, Scotland's biggest activist gathering.
The Big Blether takes place every 2 years in Scotland.
If you don't know what a Big Blether is click
here for an explanation of what happened last time.
We've prepared a flyer: Click
here to download it in pdf format* (please feel free to print it
off and distribute). For a text only version
In 2004 we held the Big Blether on the first weekend in October (1st
- 3rd) in Culdees, Fearnan, Perthshire. click here
for more details about the venue.
We've made a provisional programme (available
here).
BB4 is a non-commercial event. We are aiming to keep costs to a minimum
and will probably asking for donations in the range of £10-£30
depending on what you can afford. This is to cover paying for publicity,
stationary costs, a small donation to Culdees and any other expenses
that crop up. Please note that we are an autonomous voluntary group
and aren't being paid for any of this (+ so far we've paid most of our
expenses out of our own pockets). Any excess funds will be saved for
the next blether.
Workshop facilitators, and volunteers making a minimum commitment will
get in free.
Children are very welcome and we are planning to run some kids activities.
We encourage parents to organise a crèche / activities between
themselves (and some of us). There will be plenty of space. Please let
us know if you would consider running a workshop for children.
This web-site will be regularly updated as we progress, please keep
checking back for updates.
*Should you need it Adobe's Acrobat (PDF) reader is here.
`tis
time for a chat, a good craic, a big blether
time for us all to get back together
To chew on the
fat and tell some more tales
to have a good time and still save the whales
to meet and remember and share our big dreams
to discover new friends and share a few genes
to be who we are and find what has been
to blend all our hopes and create something green
So come all you
rebels, you lovers, you fools
lets find a fair field where life can be true
and imagine a time when everyone's free
to be a fool on the hill and live for the day
`tis time for
a chat, a good craic, a big blether
time for us all to get back together
