The last Big Blether (BB3) in September 2002 was held at Talamh Life
Centre in Lanarkshire. Around 150 people from all over Scotland and
beyond came together to discuss some of the issues of the day.
We had four workshop spaces a day with up to six workshops running
concurrently - on such diverse topics as:
- Activists for Change
- Trident Ploughshares
- Alternative Technology
- Activism in Palestine
- Independent Media
- World Development
- Sexuality
- Housing Co-operatives
- Using the Scottish Parliament
- Permaculture
- Weaving and Dyeing
- Activism
- War & Peace
and many more…
Workshops were held in large marquees, a
greendome, hay barns, and various outbuildings.
We all camped, and either provided food for ourselves or bought from
our kitchen marquee. In the evenings we talked, and drank through the
evening round a huge bonfire...
Many new contacts were made, and old friendships affirmed as discussions-
formal and social, helped knit together the thriving community of activists
in Scotland.
